Can I join brta?
Maybe!
BRTA is a pretty great camp, let’s be honest! To keep that going, we want to ensure new Agents are the right fit for BRTA. Anyone is welcome at Burning Man but becoming an Agent with BRTA involves more than just showing up. Here’s what you need to know:
Wanna-be agents
Secure a Sponsor: You must be sponsored by an existing Agent and approved by BRTA leadership. If you know a BRTA Agent who is willing to vouch for you, great! If not, email us, and we’ll help connect you!
Understand and fully embrace the Principles of Burning Man. An absolute requirement. There will be an oral test.
Are Eager to Get Involved: You must be willing to volunteer and contribute to the communal effort. We ain’t no plug and play camp. Hawk Tuah!
Bring No Drama: We value an easy-going atmosphere. Bring your good vibes, leave the stinky vibes in the default world. Or maybe just revaluate your shit.
Be kind. Don’t be a dick: We hope to be a diskless camp. Wait, what?

MOOP Sweeps: Cruise our camp looking for matter-out-of-place to ensure BRTA archives the Leave-no-trace principle.
Galley Kitchen Shifts: Plan meals, make meals, or clean up the cooking mess.
Galley Dining Shifts: Set out our reusable tableware, serve the ymy meals, or clean up the dirty dishes for our next meal.
Creating Artwork: Create an installation at BRTA or help us bling our camp with beautiful spaces.
Strike: Stay after and tear down camp infrastructure including shade structures, galley, starport lighting, sound.
Financial Contributions and Options
Annual Agent Dues (required): Agent dues help keep Black Rock Travel Agency going throughout the year to make sure we have a camp at Burning Man each year. This annual $65 fee supports costs like our storage facility, our website, and provides funding for camp infrastructure maintenance and up-keep.
Annual Camp Cost-Share (required): contributions that support our special events, major infrastructure, bar, entertainment and all BRTA accoutrements. Paying your Camp Fee allows you access to sign up for the additional options below.
Meal Plan (optional): optional plan for Agents who sign up for galley meals, which provide breakfast and dinner during Burn week. (Must also sign up for 2 Kitchen or Dining Room shifts)
Camp Provided Power (optional): optional camp generated power available at 15 amp, 20 amp, or 30 amp levels. Somewhat limited so make a decision early. Generally speaking, 30 amp is for RVs, 20 for yurts/shiftpad and basic AC, and 15 for chargers, fairly lights and vibrators.
